WHAT TO EXPECT
With Gretchen Dezelick, RN
POST OP & FOLLOW UP
What happens the day after my procedure?
>> GRETCHEN DEZELICK: On day three, we ask you to come in for a postoperative appointment. During that appointment, we’ll take your vital signs, we’ll check your surgical wounds. If everything looks good, you’re free to go. Following that, usually within 24 hours, your primary RN will give you a phone call, check and see how you’re doing, then usually at a week, ten days, one month, three months, six months, we continue to follow up with phone calls.
Is there any reason that I might have to stay?
>> GRETCHEN DEZELICK: If everything goes well, you’re usually able to travel the day of your postoperative appointment. One exception would be if you’re traveling overseas or have a flight that’s maybe more than three or four hours long, sometimes we recommend that you just stay an extra day.
Why is patient data important at Okyanos?
>> GRETCHEN DEZELICK: Data is extremely important to us. We collect data on everything, from patient demographics, to patients’ weights, to patient’s liposuction techniques, to the number of stem cells received, the treatments we provide. Without data, we wouldn’t be able to look at what we’ve done, seen what works, seen what doesn’t work and be able to change as required.
