Sophia E. Deben, MD

Sophia E. Deben, MD, is an accomplished surgeon at International Orthopaedic Specialists in Miami, Florida.  After completing a seven-year tour of duty with the United States Navy, including a combat tour in Iraq, she returned home to serve her community. Dr. Deben graduated from George Washington University School of Medicine, finished an orthopedic residency in Kansas City, MO, and was stationed at Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, in support of the U.S. Marine Corps. She then completed a fellowship in Portland, Maine in complex foot and ankle reconstruction. At the Naval Medical Center San Diego, she served as the military foot and ankle surgeon for the entire west coast, Alaska, Hawaii and Guam.

Dr. Deben couples her work in regenerative medicine with extensive experience with trauma, reconstruction and complex sports injuries in high-performance athletes. She developed a multidisciplinary limb-salvage team with advanced wound care and bracing options for both wounded warriors and retired veterans.
